Photograph Tuscany: the Beating Art of Italy

This is the place where Renaissance art was born. Where better to revitalise your photography, your art, than here? A place where painters, sculptors and architects first found a new way forward. It’s no surprise that the natural world was a major driver of the change – Tuscany is spectacular in its beauty and diversity. We give you 5 days in a Tuscan villa shooting landscape and fashion.

Expect to be seriously inspired.

Value with a Personal Touch

All you have to do is get yourself to Florence Airport. From there, we spend some time in this historic city before transferring you in a luxury air-conditioned minibus to the ancient mountainside town of Monte San Savino, overlooking the Esse Valley. Unlike other more expensive photography breaks in Tuscany, you will be one of only four photographers which means more personal attention. You will enjoy single occupancy en suite accommodation in a luxury villa with a pool for the duration of your 5-night stay. Two days of fashion photography with lovely Italian model, Valentina Fusco; two days of pure landscape and cityscape.

From our base in Monte San Savino, we travel daily to and from pre-scouted locations, making the most of the changing light throughout the day to capture the best aspects of our subject matter. The hilltop cathedral city of Arezzo; the rolling hills of Val D’Orcia (a UNESCO World Heritage Site);  the historic medieval city of Siena.  Over four full days of shooting, you can expect to take in a variety of iconic Tuscan landscapes, cityscapes and fully-styled fashion images with our model, Valentina, in a range of beautiful and complementary locations. All this under the care and guidance of our Photo Roadtrips team; Andrew, Helen and Steve. At the end of your stay, we return you to Florence Airport to complete your journey home.

Your 6 days in Tuscany starts from the moment we collect you from Florence Airport. If you would prefer to fly to Pisa, please let us know and we will endeavour to arrange pick-up from there.

Day 1:  First stop is the city of Florence which, both culturally and architecturally, is just sensational. We will find a cafe and have a late lunch before heading off to explore, cameras in hand! Once the sun has gone down (around 7.30pm), we’ll head to our villa where an evening meal on the patio will be waiting for us.

Day 2: After a leisurely breakfast, allowing everyone to relax after a busy day of travelling, we head to the fabulous city of Siena which has so much to see and photograph. Siena featured in the James Bond film, Quantum of Solace. Remember the crazy bareback horse race? We won’t be there for this particular spectacle but we will visit the main square where the tradition plays out twice a year. Early afternoon, we take the road south towards the hills and valleys that surround Torrenieri. Here, we will catch the late afternoon sun as it begins to set over the magnificent Tuscan countryside. We shoot until we lose the light and then it’s back to our villa for an evening meal and to download the day’s images.

Day 3: An early start and we head south once again. This time it is to capture two iconic Tuscan ‘must have’ shots: the little chapel, Cappella Madonna di Vitaleta, and the rolling countryside with its characteristic Cyprus trees in the Val D’Orcia. Finally, we will head to Castiglione d’Orcia in time to catch the drama of the sun setting on the hilltop village and ancient caste battlements. We stop at San Quirico d’Orcia, on the way back to our villa, for a meal at one of the many restaurants.

Day 4: Time to begin two days of fashion photography with Valentina Fusco, our beautiful model, styled by Helen. Today will be really relaxed – no travelling involved, just a day of shooting in and around the villa and surrounding countryside.

Day 5: It’s time to step up a gear and head to the city of Arezzo with our model for some quintessentially Italian chic fashion images. We’ll lunch together in one of the many cafes and, after a sunset shoot, it’s back to the villa for our final meal together.

Day 6: Time to pack your bags and jump aboard our air-conditioned minibus for the journey back to the airport.
